Sign up to tutor for the 2017-2018 school year.

Dear Friends,

It is time to sign up to tutor for the 2017-2018 school year… hard to believe when the days are long and we are eating peaches, but it is true.

I so value your participation in READING MATTERS and hope you will continue next year. The sign-up form with important dates is attached. Fill it out and return to me. There is no need to complete the background check information as you are all returning tutors. Please do indicate where you would like to tutor. I will do my best to fulfill those requests.

As you all know, people are more likely to do something when asked by a friend. I am asking you to think about your friends who would make good tutors. Invite four more people to join in this work. All of the schools can use more tutors. Thanks for considering doing this. I am happy to speak with anyone who has questions about this program.

Grace and peace,

Annie E. Casey Foundation releases 2017 Kids Count Data Book – SC has improved

The 2017 KIDS COUNT Data Book urges policymakers not to back away from targeted investments that help U.S. children become healthier, more likely to complete high school and better positioned to contribute to the nation’s economy as adults. Please take time to educate yourself and your church on the statistics offered in this book. The good news is that South Carolina has improved in education, and there is still much to be done.
